iam8bit produced a community-targeted event on Friday, March 13, 2009 to celebrate the launch of Resident Evil 5 — with a cause. For this Red Cross-sponsored event, pledges were taken weeks ahead of time, garnering over one hundred donations — completely maxing out the Red Cross’s abilities. Nurses were overwhelmed with gamers clamoring to give their plasma in exchange for exclusive merchandise produced just for the event, including a series of four hand-silkscreened posters by illustrator Jim Rugg, as well as buttons, stickers, and the chance to win a copy of the game. Who says the game industry doesn’t give back?
