About Amanda Visell:

Amanda Visell grew up with an obsession for vintage Disney, Mousketeers and war-era cartoons. She spent her teens in the Pacific Northwest during the “riot grrl” music movement and was captivated by the large community of independent artists and their overall message of equality.

She moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in visual development for animation, eventually becoming a designer and sculptor for various stop-motion animation productions. Her career took a sharp turn when she started showing her paintings publicly. Since 2005, she has worked as a full-time independent artist. She’s exhibited, lectured, and taught workshops at galleries and museums internationally, including solo exhibitions at Disneyland USA in 2007 and The Natural History Museum in 2010.

In 2007, she formed her own design brand, Switcheroo, with notable artist Michelle Valigura, focusing on small edition handmade sculptures. In addition, she continues to partner with various art and lifestyle brands to create products based on her work, and tours internationally for trade shows and design conferences.

She currently lives at the beach on the Oregon coast, obsessing about driftwood.
