Eastward is a game defined by its contrasts, a tale of finding hope even on the brink of total dismay told via a retro aesthetic and some decidedly modern and unexpected storytelling. It’s no surprise, then, that composer Joel Corelitz crafted an appropriately eclectic soundtrack for Pixpil and Chucklefish’s Adventure RPG. It’s a love letter to the history of video game music, dancing confidently between genres, moods, and themes while weaving together a fully realized portrait of the game’s unique world.
Now, iam8bit is proud to present this Exclusive Collector’s Edition of the soundtrack on 2xLP vinyl, pairing the delicious dish of the game’s music, with a Custom-Created Board Game from acclaimed designer Erich Meyr (Squanch Games, Insomniac Games) and illustrator Ryan Brinkerhoff. This cooperative tabletop game sees players working together to rescue villagers and defeat enemies, racing against a sinister miasma that threatens to engulf the world — complete with 12x24 built-in gatefold board, 15 food cards, 10 item cards, and 4 unique playable character standees.
What’s even cooler is that the thematic nature of the game’s two lead characters John and Sam, inspired us to design something that wasn’t just standalone, but could also pair with the Eastward Nintendo Switch Collector’s Edition as an expansion pack to the board game experience. YES, that’s right - there are TWO board games, each entirely self-sufficient — with unique playfields, cards and characters — but together they create even more rad tabletop fun times! We encourage you to try them both out!
